About this album

Candlelight Records (2002) Released: 31 Dec 2002 6 tracks (74:16)
Morningrise is the Swedish death metal band Opeth’s second studio album. The album exemplifies Opeth’s signature style, exploring the dynamics between the combination of heavy death metal vocals and guitar parts with lighter progressive and acoustic elements. The bridge depicted on the album cover is a Palladian bridge, located in Prior Park in Bath, England.

The album was released in Europe by Candlelight Records in 1996 with a sticker on a jewel case, and in the United States by Century Black, Century Media Records’ black metal off-shoot a year later. It was reissued by Candlelight Records in 2000.
The 2000 reissue contains a bonus track for both normal and vinyl editions released by Displeased Records. It is a demo that was recorded around the same time as this album. The bonus track was also released on the limited edition tin box in 2003 and in The Candlelight Years Box Set (where Opeth’s first 3 albums are compiled) in 2008.

Cedits:

Mikael Åkerfeldt – vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar
Peter Lindgren – guitar, acoustic guitar
Johan DeFarfalla – bass
Anders Nordin – drums, percussion

My favourite. Compozitions masterpiece, perfect harmonies. Unlike some lastest releases it is not easy-listening pop-metal one and definetely the most complex release they ever made for discerning listeners. Requires over a dozen times to get through all the brilliant tones. One of the most important compact cassette (kido-wannabemetal fans don't even know what it is) in my life.

I love long songs, but when it comes to 20 minutes, that's a little too long even for me. Good album nonetheless.

Also, I think it's the least played because some people don't have the patience for ten and twenty minute songs sometimes.

It is the least played because it has the least songs.

I only don;t like the instrumental part - I mean bass guitar and drums - it should be reecorded and the atmosphere on this alboum would be perfect! Great album!
