Zolan Quobble -Voice
Stephen Elwell - Bass
Pete Karkut - Laptop & Percussion
Zolan Quobble is a performance poet in his own right. He was part of Chicken Sidecar.
Stephen Elwell also plays electric drums with Foul Geese and guitar and keyboards with Bert Shaft Orchestra. He used to be the keyboard player in Brain of Morbius.
Pete Karkut uses samples including those made from his own collection of instruments and his own idiosyncratic recordings such as straw blowing in avocado soup and a fly trapped in a plastic bowl. He used to play percussion, keyboards and tapes with Leven Signs.
The music is electronic and punky with a funk beat. Deceptively simple lyrics deliver poetic and philosophic surprises. It succeeds in being accessible and experimental at the same time. It was described in Organ Magazine as follows: "One True Dog perform some rather impressively way out there laptop driven cut-up percussive beats, jazzy no-wave bass and rather compelling semi spoken word wired up buzz and noise and living without skin, further investigation very much needed, compelling indeed"
They have reminded listeners of artists like Laurie Anderson, Talking Heads and Captain Beefheart but in truth they do not sound like anyone.
The trio were all members of South East London Musicians Collective, which gave a home to the bands; Balloons, Baby Trio, Rabbit, Chicken Sidecar, Leven Signs and Brain of Morbius as well as many others.
