  • ~BEST of 2011~

    14 Jan 2012, 16:04 by PattyMcPat2666

Late as hell, I know. However, no one reads this crap any more and I just do it for myself so here we ago! Another year, another list! Less than last year, but still too many.

Some surprises for me this year were Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna. YU-A also blew me away with a fabulous album kicking her weak debut's ass. OMG, May J.'s album too!! After two really really really crappy ones, she finally put out great album!! Here's to hoping we get another from her in 2012.

Enjoy the list and comment if you like! I will try to reply if anyone bothers to say something. Toodles ~

  • 50% off new OMODAKA album Sanosa, only on HearJapan

    23 Aug 2011, 05:21 by Hear-Japan

50% off new Omodaka album Sanosa, only on HearJapan

    ===========================
Yokohama, Japan — August 23rd, 2011 — OMODAKA is back, and HearJapan
has the best deal anywhere on the new album, Sanosa!

The sound of OMODAKA (aka Soichi Terada) is a mix of Minyo (Japanese
traditional folk songs) and /electro. Together with veteran
Enka singer Kanazawa Akiko, (she started her career over 38 years
ago!) Terada creates incredibly catchy, funky and irrefutably cool
    dance music.

Sanosa is the newest album to feature OMODAKA’s unique sound. Spanning
an amazing 20 tracks, there is a mix of brand new music and older,
remixed and remastered tracks. These include his biggest hits like
“Kokiriko Bushi,” “Cantata No 147” and “Kyoteizinc Remix” as well as
more recent tracks like “Plum Song.” Along with the new songs, this is
a must-have for anyone looking for a totally fresh electro sound, yet
is still essential for the most hardcore OMODAKA fans.

Best of all, HearJapan is offering the album for 50% off! That’s only
  • Japan Nite @ The Bowery

    1 Apr 2010, 03:42 by joesushi

Sun 21 Mar – Japan Nite 2010 in New York
I thought about writing a review for a few days and here it is.

After not attending last year's Japan Nite Concert I went to the 2010 edition at Bowery Ballroom in NYC on March 21st. The headliner band was Chatmonchy which was the main reason I initially decided to go, but I was impressed by the other musicians who played that night.

The female band JinnyOops! was the first to take the stage and really got the night to a fantastic start. Their energy was a nice surprise. The drummer was amazing, my favorite moment of the concert was at the start when she walked on stage and started the beat then the other two members walked on stage.

OKAMOTO'S were next and the lead singer had a Mick Jagger flare to him. The bands' sound had an 60's flow, especially the bassist who in my opinion stood out without upstaging any one member.

I didn't catch the first half of the Red Bacteria Vacuum set but the second half was entertaining.

Omodaka and his electronic ensemble was next. With laptop, PSP, Game Boy and DS in hand, the fusion of beeps and boops along with an oscillator got the crowd dancing.

Reigning from Philly, East LA, Eagle Rock, Detroit, MI and Garden Grove, CA, Mojo Wire's name comes from a Hunter S. Thompson reference. Fronted by Monique Powell, former lead singer of KROQ sweethearts Save Ferris, the Mojo Wire is what would happen if Tina Turner were impregnated by the MC5 and Iggy Pop - sheer genius. …
