Biography

There are several bands using this name. Following are two of them:

1) Omelette is a pop rock band from Indonesia. So far they have already released three studio albums: Persahabatan (2005), Lagi…Lagi… (2008) and Cuma Kamu (2010). The recent line-up of Omelette are: Fetty Sofian (vocal), Nissa Hamzah (bass & keyboard), Otto Pambudi (drums & percussions), Rian Hamzah (accoustic & electric guitars). Nissa Hamzah and Rian Hamzah are the children of Ani Arifin, the guitarist of well-known Indonesian female band from 70’s era Aria Junior. Nissa Hamzah also known as a female-bassist who have been performed in album Bass Heroes with other famous bassist such as: Indro Hardjodikoro, Thomas Ramdhan (Gigi), Iwan Xaverius (Blackout, ex-Roxx, ex-Edane), Bondan Prakoso (Bondan & Fade 2 Black, Funky Kopral), Barry Likumahua and others.

2) Ian started writing songs on his 4 string guitar. Anthony Mackey helped him to record them on 4 track. Ian asked Paul Hickey to play bass. His wonderfully melodic playing brought Ian’s songs to a new level. Anthony was brought in to play drums and Omelette became a band. They played many times across Dublin (Whelan’s, Doyles, The Shelter, The Cobblestone…). Then Ian took off to New Zealand for a few months. While there he wrote Happiness which the band recorded as soon as he came back to Ireland for the first single. In 2003 Omelette released a 7” single (Happiness, The Girl With The Sun In Her Hair, Scissorhands). Shortly after that Anthony bowed out and was replaced temporarily by Mark Jordan. The new band played a number of shows including gigs with Cinerama but once the band found a new drummer Mark left. Brian was the new drummer. Omelette continued to play live, including a support with Ian’s heroes Luna, but Brian’s time with Omelette was over. Mark came back and the band embarked on the recording of Off By Heart. The album includes songs from all eras of the band’s history. During the long recording process Ian continued to write and by the time Off By Heart was released Omelette had a new album ready to go entitled Almost Beautiful. These songs were demoed but Off By Heart suffered a major blow with bassist Paul’s illness that left them unable to tour. The band was put on ice and in November 2004 Mark took off to Canada. At the time of writing Ian has written another whole album and plans to record and tour it solo. Almost Beautiful will emerge at some point and Off By Heart remains an Irish Underground classic.
