  • I am soooo into Black Metal right now!

    11 Dec 2008, 16:28 by Blodvargr

Most of the time of the last year I was completely focussed on Industrial, Neoclassic and Neofolk. Spent lots of money on albums of this genre and listened to bands like Triarii, Karjalan Sissit, Weihan, Von Thronstahl, Of the Wand and the Moon, Rome, and others all the time. But since about a months I had a full "fall back" on Black Metal. It began with once again reading "Lords Of Chaos", which always sets me back in a certain mood. Normally this mood stays with me for a couple of days, I put Burzum in the player, and then it's over and I am back at my "new fetish", martial music and new folk. This time it's still here and it doesn't seem to want to disappear again. Well, I am not unhappy about that! Darkthrone is kind of constantly looping on my iPod and also bands like Livsnekad, Old, Anti, Aura Noir, old Satyricon and especially other Norwegian artists are my utter favourites right now.

Probably it has to do with my inner restlessness at the moment. …

  • Last.fm metal mix-ups....

One might see the artist name "Blackwatch" in my chart, this week, and follow the link to some electronic guy who put out some music under that name, however, I never heard of the guy.

There is a cool metal band from Raleigh, NC, that I've seen live a couple of times called BlackWatch. www.myspace.com/blackwatch

Also, you might see Dissection as one of my top artists. I think Dissection from Sweden is GREAT as hell. I think Storm of the Light's Bane is one of the best albums ever, but, some of my tracks played are from an obscure late 80s thrash band from Canada called Dissection. What I have is a vinyl rip. Both bands called Dissection get scrobbled together as one.

There is also a German thrash band called Old and a defunct bizarre experimental metal band from the 90s that I worship, formerly on the Earache label, called O.L.D. and tags and albums are incorrectly listed on the band pages and this is one confusing mess.

Its the start of 2007 and we have three gorgeous new releases lined up for you in the first third of the year!

Throw Stephanie In The Incinerator will be releasing their demo EP through us very shortly! the band are based between Derby and Notts and play a unique blend of upbea post-metal and stoner rock. slighly like a more fun Pelican, and featuring an ex-member of the awesome 3 Stages of Pain. We received this demo (The Road is Long, Dead Horses are Heavy) in the interest of offering them an album but its so good it cant be wasted! it will be pressed on vinyl effect CDs, limited to 200 and wih very special DIY artwork.. look out for it!

Sons of Alpha Centauri have been quietly making a name for themselves over the past few years while perfecting this epic debut album. They play abrasive, instrumental stoner rock, taking influences from bands such as the melvins, kyuss and helmet as well as the likes of Pelcian and Isis. Mastering has been done by James Plotkin (of Khanate

  • 2006 Year in Review Part 3: Top 50 of 2006

    1 Jan 2007, 05:11 by Flah

Friends, fellow group members, and people that surfed on by through the recommendation filter,

I can’t believe I did it. I actually got my Top 50 list together. In case you were wondering, I wrote this entire fucking thing in one day. I wish I was kidding. The quality may be poor, but I got it on the web when it counted…four hours before we have to write ’07 on our checks. You may notice two distinct writing styles on display here: one is me struggling to write jokes (my normal Last.fm style) and the other is me rushing to finish this thing before my fingers exploded and my eyes leaked out of my skull. You’ll also notice that I give up on style number one early. I know, first James Brown, then Ford, then Saddam, and now the death of my usual, trying-way-too-hard writing style. I hear a symphony of the world’s tiniest violins already. But, I figure that no one is actually going to read nineteen pages of this shit, so I’m covered. Really, you’re not even reading this right now. Pooki bum bum dick dick ha sauce. …
