In autumn 2007, when Gray Code was laying low, Joni van der Leeuw and Timo Pisart started recording a couple of songs with simple equipment and little effects, just to see how it would sound. This ended up in the first EP: "Slowly, But Surely".
Timo and Joni thought the arrangements were good enough to play live with a similar feel and sound (soft-toned and gentle) but knew Gray Code wasn't the band that would do it. So they went back to their old project: playing as a semi-acoustic duo. They renamed it OIIO (which derives from jOnItImO) to definitely seperate it from Gray Code.
Since then, OIIO released the brand new song "Crash Test" in the summer of 2008 and did their first two gigs by the end of the year. Okieson-singer and producer Sebastiaan van Bijlevelt noticed OIIO on myspace and in the Camelot Cafe in Nijmegen and offered to make a record with the guys.
This album, which will be called "Open", is being recorded, mixed and produced this winter in the Galloway Studio near Nijmegen. The album was released on the 28th of january, 2010. In the meanwhile OIIO will tour around the Netherlands accompanied by Jasper Timmermans, Liset van Hoorn and Joost Dekkers.
