20 Sep 2009, 07:27 by Hatebreeder_COBHey everybody! The name’s Adam (AGreenman) and I’m one of the new newsletter writers. First off, I’m sure many of you have realized, but the group’s been pretty dead in terms of bands posted, so I’m going to review a variety of genres (and bands that have been listened but not reviewed), rather than the death/thrash I should be focusing on.
Let’s start with Octopus. A technical/progressive metal band from Chile, they play an instrumental style nearly identical to Blotted Science. Yes, that’s a good thing. Very heavily downtuned for an instrumental band, their primary focus is destroying the listener with crushing technicality. Rather fast-paced, the listener is assaulted with lightning-fast riffing, displaying a high degree of skill. Occasionally, we’re hit with calming interludes from the ferocity, with a lone guitar creating a spacey, far-out atmosphere, then erupting into chaos once again.
Next up: Undivine. This is the sort of style that I really enjoy; it’s not quite melodic black or melodic death metal…
28 Feb 2009, 09:16 by VeilOfAbsenceMy thanks to everyone who's commented so far. If you know of anymore more bands/artists/albums that should be on this list but aren't, let me know.
This list is still very much a work in progress. More bands/artists/albums, better formatting, and more links are still to come.
Also, bands that are not themselves entirely instrumental, but have at least one instrumental release, will be listed with the name(s) of said instrumental release(s) below the band's/artist's name in the following format:

27 Jan 2009, 21:59 by -jc-so, our mate Quinny is only young - born in 1987, he missed out on the majority of the whole britpop thing that defined most of our childhoods. lucky him, you might say, and you're probably right... but there's a large part of me that feels the need to educate our young friend about those heady, carefree days of yore...
to this extent, i've made the boy a mix... that became two mixes... that's now expanded to a hundred song playlist, dredging up a number of long forgottens that even i hardly gave time for 14 years ago...
inspiration came from a number of Shine compilations, as well as free CDs from the likes of Select, Vox, NME and Melody Maker still knocking around my bedroom. and of course, my own dodgy library of near hit singles and nomark albums i've gathered together in roughly 15 years of never throwing anything away.
i remember back in the day, beyond the obvious stuff carried forward on such compilations, some of the more interesting / obscure / flash in the pan…
24 Dec 2008, 00:39 by -jc-as threatened, a quick top level overview of previous albums of the year, ahead of this year's list. can you feel the tension yet? no? didn't think so.
as stated, these are obviously personal choices, based on experiences associated with certain tracks that soundtracked that year. i'm not trying to score any points here - you know how shocking my tastes are - more just keep a record for myself of progress through the years. yeah, so my tastes haven't particularly evolved over the years: so shoot me.
ok, starting waaaaaaaay back, right to when i started caring about all of this...
1995 - Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory
you name me one kid from the mid 90s who's school days weren't soundtracked in some way by Oasis. no matter whether you liked them or not, they were always there in the background somewhere... Top of the Pops, TFI Friday, the news... your mate learning guitar... house parties (that you probably still called sleepovers back then)...
