Behind all of the fuzz and awkward background noise found within the Octopus Owl sound, Lara Kinne nervously plucks her way through food-induced ballads about things that make the rest of the world just as backward. The name derives from smashing together Kinne’s two favorite animals, although, earlier names such as Octopus Snake and Seemour Sky were considered: in the end, assonance was the best way to go.

Lara currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky. She has never been to the Kentucky Derby and she has never listened to bluegrass for leisure. Her influences vary from breakfast food to hardwood floors, but most importantly from numbers 1-0, and little ditties picked up from day to day.

You can find her performing every Sunday at the Open Door Community Fellowship located at 1821 Brownsboro Road, (near Mellwood Avenue), Louisville. Although she is not Christian, playing at a church remains a comforting atmosphere to perform, even if it’s for the Lord. Never hesitate to stop by.
