Oceanographer – Beauty of Deep Lines
Biography
The band Oceanographer started out as a trio including vocalist Jeremy Yocum, drummer Bradly Brown, and violist Eric Elterman. They started really playing in 2002. Their music was originally known for the dreamy atmospheric sound. Now with the additions Steven Kimbrell on guitar and bassist Ryan Goolsby the group has a more energetic feel. Even though the sound of their music has changed a bit from the very beginning their music remains captivating with flowing lyrics and mellow vibe.
After dabbling with other projects and ideas, Yocum and Elterman decided to return to Oceanographer with original bassist Ryan Goolsby. Guitarist Kevin Plessner (of Monuments, Suzan Hurtuk, Missives) and drummer Ian Peksa (of The Autumn Leaves, Silver Tongue Diary, Jaane) replaced (respectively) Stephen Kimbrell and Bradly Brown, and the quintet made their first appearance as a re-formed Oceanographer on October 11th, 2008 at Manhattan venue National Underground. The group hopes to have a new record ready for release sometime in early 2010.
