OBK is a techno-pop group from Barcelona (Spain).
It was founded by Miguel Arjona and Jordi Sánchez in the late 1980s. OBK are big fans of Depeche Mode and the name of the group OBK is short for “Oberkorn (It’s a Small Town)”, the name of the B-side from “The Meaning of Love”.

Español:
Jordi y Miguel se conocieron en Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona), en 1982, practicando atletismo. Al poco tiempo empezaron a compartir su admiración por las bandas techno de la época, tales como Yazoo, Visage, OMD y Depeche Mode.

Fue precisamente el título de una canción de Depeche Mode, “Oberkorn”, el que les dio la idea para ponerle nombre al grupo que formarían más adelante, que más tarde convertirían en las siglas que hoy todos conocemos.

Siendo unos jovencitos con la veintena recién cumplida, se plantearon ofrecer sus canciones a algunas discográficas, que en aquella época no querían ni oír hablar de música techno, algo que no vendía demasiado. Al final lo consiguieron, gracias a la cara B de su maqueta donde se encontraba OCULTA REALIDAD.
