Nyika is a singer songwriter who’s debut album ‘The First Sensation’ gained critical acclaim from both Mica Paris and Tony Blackburn on their Soul shows on BBC Radio placing her firmly on the map of the British Soul tradition. The debut album was mixed and co produced by Nick Sykes who has worked with Shirley Bassey,Joan Armatrading,Elkie Brooks,Dusty Springfield,The Rah Band and Go West among many others. Nyika’s 2nd album ‘Rock ‘n’ Soul Dream’ is out now and heads more in the direction of traditional Soul,R’n’B and Blues based songs still heavily seated in groove. These songs are a cry from the tradition of Motown,Northern Soul and original Rhythm and Blues with contributions from a fantastic array of amazing musicians including Hugh Burns(Wham,Gerry Rafferty,George Michael),Roy Dodds(Fairground Attraction),Mark Vandergught(Push,Candy Staton,Galliano and Marlena Shaw)and Ashley Slater of Freakpower fame.
