Rome, Italy (1990 – present)

Novembre is a band from Rome, Italy. Their music consists of progressive/doom/death metal elements. Novembre was formed in 1990, under the name of Catacomb. Novembre is lyrically themed towards dreams, nature, personal struggles and landscapes. Novembre is currently signed to Peaceville Records.

They have made a solid impression upon both the death metal and atmospheric metal scenes with equally strong results. Ever since their inception, word about the group has spread among the underground scene on a worldwide basis.

It was back in September 1990 when the two brothers Carmelo Orlando (guitars and vocals) and Giuseppe Orlando (drums) formed the band CATACOMB.
About a year later, in November 1991 they released their first demo, ‘Unreal’. Despite its poor sound-quality it immediately raised peoples’ interest among the then-flourishing death metal scene. The 7” EP ‘The Return of the Ark’ (released by Sacra Sindone Records) followed in early 1993 and due to its unusual mix of melancholic gothic doom with classic influences caused even more exposure and popularity in the world-wide underground.
Soon after they renamed the band NOVEMBRE, as the former moniker did not represent the bands steadily progressing sound anymore.
Things finally felt right and around the same time NOVEMBRE signed to Polyphemus Records.
In the Fall of 1994 the band recorded their highly-acclaimed debut, Wish I Could Dream It Again… in Dan Swano’s Unisound Studios.
This was right around the same time as other leaders of the initial atmospheric scene recorded their first and early albums, making NOVEMBRE among the first bands inventing and playing this sound.

    Their founder and drummer joined The Foreshadowing? As a Novembre fan, that's probably not a good thing. As a The Foreshadowing fan, however, this makes me happy.

    Whenever I see similar artists to NOVEMBRE here, even though they are good bands, I don't feel good anymore, It is no close to them, It is something else, it is the other side of earthly mental disorder much people have not discovered yet. It is not the perception of only me , it will be the perception of infinitely many. The music from this world, but from the things that does not existed in the senses of public. somewhere between existence and non existence.

    It's going to be about 2 years that every night I sleep listening Novembre , starting with MATERIA, ending in THE BLUE, and some favoured songs of other albums in between, which includes ''Dream of the old boats, homecoming, swim seagull in the sky, marea, come pierrot, everasia, flower, nostalgiaplatz'' , and sometimes some more. But Start always with Materia's Geppetto or Comedia or verne or jules , and my eyes close with them and fall asleep into my dreams of apocalyptic landscapes of Red and Blue, occasionally white.

    I don't know if they will still do something in the future, I honestly hope they will, but their founder and drummer G.Orlando just became a member of The Foreshadowing, and I don't see how this news could be a positive thing for the band's future.
