Nový Svět was a musical group formed in 1997 in Vienna, Austria that, while related with the avant-garde scene, created a melange of krautrock, minimal electronic, free jazz, folk and noise…
The lyrics, sung by Jürgen Weber, are mostly in Spanish or Italian, but also in English, Pseudo-Esperanto and German.
Nový Svět was one of the very first projects to be released on Albin Julius’ HauRuck! label where it found a home for its own recordings but also for many collaborations with other groups from the label’s roster (Mushroom’s Patience… , Dernière Volonté, Foresta di Ferro), as well as with Ô Paradis and Der Bekannte Post-Industrielle Trompeter (D.B.P.I.T.). Throughout their decadent existence Nový Svět have pushed the limits of musical categories aside to establish a unique mixture of folk, experimental and haunting neo-surrealism.
Jürgen Weber has announced that Nový Svět is a dead project as of December 31, 2007.

Mind you, "Into Your Skies" is clearly not a new Novy Svet album. It's a collection of tracks dating back to 2001-2003. TuT/RuR selected all of the English sung pieces from the demo vaults and put them together on lp. That's how it came about.

My theory about their czech name: I think at the beggining Nový Svět were two poor austrian students, which liked to spend their holydays in South Morava (morava is historical part of czech republic, cca 50 km from Vienna). They liked to drink moravian wines, which were cheap for them, they were impresed with moravian folklore. If you look on names of their early songs or albums it coresponds with my theory: for example Morava, or Znaem (one Moravian city). I think name they call themselves Nový Svět after a restaurant and vineroom Nový Svět, that lies in Kyjov (south moravian town).
