Band formed in 1978, for four years of organised chaos…determined not to ‘sell out’, have fun and ‘blow every other band that came into contact with them…off!!…either with good tunes…attitude or shaving foam on paper plates with 100’s and 1000’s sprinkled on top and used as a precursor to tiswas as custard pies (quentin turmite et al 1977).Tubby Pickles was soon on the scene as manager. teenagers with bad breath and no attitude. leaving a right mess everywhere they went. left the wenches to tidy up afterwards (sheep face 1972) great tunes on the crest of a massive punky wave. who’s surfing now? answered an ad in sounds magazine for guaranteed gigs in manchester. went to NW arts on king street on a tuesday night on the x43 from burnley with wide kex …we were kids …haggis was a soul boy at the time… the manchester musicians collective…ooh that funky beat ! met other unknowns at the time…martin hannet…frantic elevators…fall , joy division, spherical objects… hilda ogden…a cerain ratio…buzzcocks…and true to their word word played ‘band on the wall’ …twice …once witha ninety year old trombonist… the second time we were approached by dave bentley and he wanted to make 1000 singles and so DEATH TO DISCO was born bing bong! complete with wallpaper sleeve synth no bass and full on! Played regularly around Manchester …and the North…supported The Undertones, The Clash, and er Mick Hucknall…when he was a frantic elevator…god did he sell out big time?…blew them all off completely we were the real punk underclass… appeared on BBC 2’s ARENA progamme at FUTURAMA fest 1980 in Leeds find it on youtube.
