Founded by Luke Chaos (now active as Chaos Royale); Noise/Girl was probably the first (and still maybe only) Harsh-Noise-Psychedelic-Disco crossover unit in the Tokyo noise scene.

Noise/Girl was distinguished by an extemely dense, carefully composed and deeply orchestrated sound, and by powerful live shows, and has been compared variously to Whitehouse, Merzbow and disco legends Chic, sometimes all 3 at the same time.

Noise/Girl collaborated with Speedranch and Jansky Noise, V/Vm records and various members of the Tokyo noise underground before being officially disbanded in 2000. A retrospective CD was released in 2005 by Killer Pimp.

i'm all with you on the case that EBM is for ladies with handbags, but to lump rhythmic noise on the same pile is pretty dumb.

this sounds like some crappy distorted house. i dont see the rage about noise but newer rhythmic noise acts like Sam or Memmaker or NorthBorne blow this crap out of the water for texture and interest.

On the 7th July 2000 in Shibuya, Tokyo, Noise/Girl was officially pronounced dead. Cause of death: An overdose of bald guys in black t-shirts "experimenting" at laptops for hours, too much time at boring "art" events when there was a dance club next door, too many lame merzbow cd's released by uncritical foreign record companies, too many live gigs where the audience thought the disco tracks were "ironic", too many dumb articles about the difference between "noise" and other music. Noise/Girl was NEVER a "noise" band, it was just a band. They were cutest. They were loudest.
