A couple of days ago I was reading jcshepards journal (http://www.last.fm/user/jcshepard/journal/2008/05/6/718241/
). There he stated something that got me thinking.
Why? Me being a hopelessly romantic person, I just can't stand one saying that 'I'm not much for lovesongs. So much sappy sugar pop.'
It just made me think about love songs. Could I think of a "not sappy, sugar pop lovesong", without getting into the heartbreak or bawdy songs?http://kaliedoscopeeyes.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/heartbreak.jpg
If one says 'sappy', the first thing that comes to my mind is the Nirvana song Sappy
"And if you kill yourself
You will think you're happy
He'll keep you in a jar
Then you'll make him happy
He'll give you breathing holes
Then you'll think you're happy
He'll cover you with dust
Then you'll think you're happy now"
Doesn't quite strike me as a lovesong, now. But okay, it's Nirvana, one has to keep that in mind... Let's just stick to the (alt)country music.
