Nick Valensi is the lead guitarist in New York rock band The Strokes. Born 16th January 1981, Valensi learnt guitar from an early age (receiving one from his father at the age of five). During his time at Dwight High School he met future bandmates Julian Casablancas and Fabrizio Moretti. The boys formed The Strokes with Nikolai Fraiture and Albert Hammond, Jr. completing the lineup.

Valensi is a gifted guitarist, his skill heard on such songs as The Modern Age, 12:51, Juicebox, Whatever Happened and New York City Cops. He also plays mellotron on First Impression Of Earth track Ask Me Anything

In 2005, Epiphone released a signature model of his guitar, the Elitist Nick Valensi Riviera P-94 guitar, so now Strokes fan really can sound like their idol

Nick has been described as a man fully aware of his own good looks, the fighter of the band and defintely the most opinionated. He currently lives in New York with wife Amanda De Cadenet and his twins. The Strokes have just finished a world tour and are on a break. Recording of album number four is expected to begin Spring 2007, no doubt Valensi will continue his rise to the top of guitar players of his generation
