I keep thinking I can hear faint piano in this song although I know there isn't as title track is the only song with a piano on it...

"Now we rise and we are everywhere" That line just makes me want to cry with pure joy for some reason. This song is gorgeous.

Now we rise, and we are everywhere. One day our ocean will reach its shore. oh Nick, you were gone too soon..... I first heard him on the Island sampler Nice Enough to Eat (Time Has Told Me) in about 1970 and have loved his songs and his guitar playing ever since.

i never realised until now how he doesn't really pitch the notes at the end of the lines - they just fade away, it's strange and beautiful

it's a rare thing to get lost in a song for me, but Nick manages to do it to me every time. Genius, start to finish, and i think one of the best and most complete artists in terms of his music.

    Nick was absolutely fantastic.

  • melat0nin

That and the fact it's the last song he recorded. It's almost like a quiet middle finger to the depression that plagued him, even though it won in the end.

I always think there's an extra poignancy with this song because the upbeat, hopeful tone is rendered tragic given Drake's mental state when this album was recorded. Beautiful stuff.

Never has something so Beautiful hurt me so much. Thank you Mr. Drake for all of the music you left us, imo you truly were the best singer songwriter of all time.

"That commercial ruins this song. "[2] I was actually happy the first time I heard it on a commercial, because I was glad Nick Drake was getting some love, but now the commercial is on so much I hate it. But listening to the album track reinvigorates my like for it.

@catfaces: That commercial has nothing to do with Christo. It even disclaims it on the bottom. I thought it was Christo too - since it's an obvious rip off...

  • hollabackitsobi

See, it doesn't matter that it's on an AT&T commercial because Nick Drake had nothing to do with putting it there. His artistic credibility is still 100% with me.
