About this album

© Universal Music Ireland Ltd. (2000) Released: 26 Jun 2000 10 tracks (39:13)
The album starts of with Introduction, an instrumental folk play by singer/songwriter Nick Drake. Released in 1970 and were recorded at one of studio at London, this soft sophomore were Drake at his best. With the backup musician by Fairport Convention’s Richard Thompson and John Cale from The Velvet Underground, this is one of folk album been placed during that period. Due to his shyness to play live and to promote, this album receive poor market sell in any good quantity.

The album followup its debut, Five Leaves Left trully folk with some of the tracks are rich with strings. It shows Drake change his style of folk by adding a bit of jazz feel to this sophomore. Hazy Jane II were the second track on the album accompany by Richard Thompson licks were a few example of Drake new change of style. Other tracks such as At the Chime of a City Clock and One Of These Things First has a slow melancholy feel to it while adding some of piano and saxophone to it. Include the opening track, the title track and the closing Sunday is breathtaking intrumental packed with rich folk and jazz feel to it. The highlights however were Fly, adding John Cale harpischord and viola sound to it. Other were Poor Boy with female choir sing in the middle of the song. This song also featured sax and had a weary feel to it like some of the song in the album.

This is an introduction of his music at the peak of his career. Define him truly as a folk artist.
