So timeless, it's almost a shame he mentions electrical tape and sleeping bags. Though I guess there is a time period where those overlap with the possibility of lodging at a complete strangers house. :)

Doing some light house cleaning one evening, put on Murder Ballads, Song of Joy? Locked front door to feel a little better.

josephbh1 nailed it. He's the killer. And the guy he's talking to most likely the next victim.

The narrator is the killer, because he quotes Paradise Lost earlier in the song when he says 'Farewell happy fields where Joy forever dwells, hail horrors hail' and then pretends that he had to be told that red right hand was from Paradise Lost later to cover himself up... mystery solved, what a song! <3

'In my house he wrote "his red right hand". That, I'm told, is from Paradise Lost'... just awesome!

I'm thinking about how awesome it would be to listen to Nick Cave telling scary stories by the campfire. Awesome and severely disturbing.
