“Well of Misery” is partly in the style of a rhythmic work song or sea shanty.

“Saint Huck” lyrics make reference to Huckleberry Finn, The Odyssey and Elvis.
“A Box for Black Paul” possibly refers to the breakup of Cave’s previous band the Birthday Party, however, Cave himself has never verified this.
