fun fact: originally each member of the bad seeds from past to (at the time) present were to pick a track for the album yet most of them didnt bother except for Mick Harvey so essentially this is the best of Nick Cave as picked by Mick Harvey.

Yeah this was a fantastic compilation, it got me into the group. Condensing the Bad Seeds work into one representative disc would be a hell of a task, and they didn't do a bad job here at all.

best of's of artists like cave, joy division, the smiths etc are going to cause alot of debate from the offset - without even any knowledge of the tracklist. the fact that there is a semi comprehensive collection of tracks that is basically an early career spanning collection..and it's pretty good, especially to someone who would probably be overwhelmed at the sheer wealth and size of nick cave's back catalogue...if it gets people into cave then i think it's a wholly good idea, even if i don't particularly think these are his "16 greatest tracks"...for example: where the fuck is up jumped the devil!!?!
