Warren Ellis (born 14 February 1965, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian multi-instrumentalist and composer, most famous for his work with Dirty Three. He plays violin, flute, piano and mandolin in his collaborations with Nick Cave. He is currently also member of the band, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Grinderman. Nick Cave (born 22 September 1957) is an Australian rock musician, songwriter, author, screenwriter and occasional actor, best known for his work with the Bad Seeds and earlier The Birthday Party.

The two collaborated on the award-winning score of the film “The Proposition” in 2005, as well as “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” in 2007. In 2009, White Lunar was released, a two CD set of music composed for both films along with some other cinematic scores.
