New Way Home are a five piece melodic metal outfit from Auckland, New Zealand formed in 2001 from the ashes of various metal and hardcore projects, the most notable of those being Day One and Sommerset.

Their style is a mixture of heavy and melodic metal, with elements of post hardcore and progressive rock. But they also offer some softer ambient moments to add colour, texture and harmony to their aural canvas. Priding themselves on solid live performances and constant touring, New Way Home are working hard to deliver well thought out, original new material and have developed a loyal fan base in the process.

Their debut EP “Anomaly” released in 2005, consists of six of their earliest works. It is an exorcism of well road tested songs and four years of fine tuning. This self funded first effort has been received extremely well. Half of the initial pressing selling in the first three weeks and additional pressings continuing to sell consistently well to date.

The next step in their musical evolution seems to lean further toward the extremes, with more energetic tempos and less predictable, more organic song structures. In layman’s terms it will destroy you, fix you, lift you to the sky and throw you down into oblivion then make you a cup of tea and ask you how things are going…

Some of the bands these gentlemen have supported in the past include: Fear Factory, Vision of Disorder, One King Down, Parkway Drive, Most Precious Blood, Sick Of It All, Brutal Truth, Mindsnare and Killswitch Engage. The band has also featured on local Big Day Out and Warped Tour line ups.

If you’re a fan of heavy, layered, aggressive and melodic music go check the e.p out or catch their new material at the next show.

ripping tracks! roaringly dissonant, precisely rhythmic and mind-blowingly energetic! can't wait for them to do a new album.
