Version 9

New Wave Syria are Urša Golob and Rok Pezdirc. NWS started in 2007 as a side project to a post rock band Superheroes Of Bmx, in order to create different, more electronic oriented music.
Analogue synthesizers, DIY philosophy and circuitbending were the main influences that had a strong impact on their music. These influeces lead them into circuit bending and creating of unique musical instruments, some of which they use in their music. New Wave Syria’s approach is closer to rock’n’roll rather than the typical electronic and DJ scene. When making music and performing live they use various synthesizers, drum machines and other electronic gadgets.
New Wave Syria recorded their first album Hello, Yes in their home studio. Album was released in March 2009 by Cheap Tunes Records. The album was well accepted among listeners as well as critics and was announced for the best Slovenian album of 2009 by various media.
