The Neva River Rockets started in 2000. Since that time their music, playing manner and line-up have changed a number of times. In the beginning they were a plain teddy-boy rock’n’roll trio. In 2002 the band headed towards hillbilly and western swing and became a drumless string trio. With that kind of line-up the Neva River Rockets issued their first album called ‘Rockets’ Roll’ and performed at 10th Anniversary Rockabilly Rave in the UK. They even were booked for a show at the famous Green Bay Rockin’ 50s Fest II in 2005, and this might have been the first time a Russian hillbilly/rockabilly band performed in the USA, however their American tour was cancelled due to the visa problems (yes, Russians still need visas to go almost everywhere!).
In 2006 the Neva River Rockets concidered their drumless line-up as ‘too soft for a real stuff’, fired their acoustic guitar player, invited a drummer and thus became a red hot authentic rockabilly trio. This is now and future of the band. The second album called ‘Moonshine Troubadours’ was issued in 2007, followed by the special edition CD called ‘I Wish I Was In Dixie’ which was available for sale only on the live concerts and thus became very rare. The third album is hopefully coming soon.
