About This Track

There is a seamless transition betwee part one, and parts Two & Three, a background drone almost encouraging the pluck of Mangum’s guitar. These mellow beginings are turned on it’s head by Mangum’s cry of “I love Jesus Christ”, a moment that has first time listeners of “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea” Scratching their heads. However there is no denying Mangum’s passion and honesty. Stating in the “In The Areoplane Over The Sea” lyric sheet Mangum mentions how this line is not about any religion, but a belief that everything contains an “eternal white light”. The Track intensifies, Mangum’s words running away from him, untill the full band appears a cohesive force for the first time in the album for part three. The imagry is flowing out of Mangum, unconnected, but seeming to have a unified direction as it leads into the albums title track.
