When your entire culture has demonstrated they have a tendency to embrace institutionalized racism, selfishness, haughtiness about how great you are compared with everyone else that isn't white and still holding a grudge against the north for a Civil war that took place centuries ago, you have nobody to blame but yourself for getting called out by Neil Young. "A southern man don't need him around anymore" as a response by just proves the point Neil was making with this song. And yet, nobody seems to really care about this fact because; "Southern Man is such a fun song that I LOOOVE singing along to on my generic top 40 classic rock station of choice while dropping the kids off a soccer practice". Wake up and smell the ignorance of the average American music listener.

The problem is Leonard Skynard appears on the radio, Neil Young never does.
