I think it was by clicking through pages on Wikipedia that I discovered this band 5 years ago...reading about a band with two bass players made me want to listen to them right away. A testament to the helpfulness of Wikipedia if there ever was one.
I was into the Neds as a teenager and even now in my 30s I listen to them more than most! Is that sad?
Anyways, enjoy some Neds lyrics if you can't work out the words - http://www.thelyricvault.com/Artist/neds-atomic-dustbin-lyrics/
I listened to "Are You Normal" for the first time in a couple of years. Wow, what an albumn! Every single track on it is a stunner. I love the bass melodies and the controlled and laid back vocals. If the lead singer was a yeller, and it must be tempting with backing like this, it would ruin the sound, as it is though it's a multi-layered musical feast.
Anyone else going to the gig at wulfrun hall? Getting train down south may prove a pain but am sure it'll be well worth it? Need to find decent pub in Wolverhampton *been 14 years since my last visit... and guess it'll have changed a lot since then
i saw these guys twice in '95... once at a local radio station's outdoor music fest, & the other at a small club with Sponge & Letters to Cleo. they rocked both times, very energetic like someone pointed out!!!! & the use of 2 basses is a very interesting musical combo. they've always been underrated... good music always is *sigh*
one of the most uplifting and rocking indie bands ever. And I love what you can do with 2 basses, strange that no other bands use 2. Gives a good combination of bass power and melody. And good lyrics, too.
