Naturalites

The Natural Ites were formed in the city of Nottingham in the early 80’s and became one of the biggest Roots bands this country has ever produced. The band was made up of many talented musicians from the city including Lenroy Guiste, Percy Dread, Ossie Samms and the rhythm and horn section were known as The Realistics.

They released 3 studio albums throughout the decade; these were Picture On The Wall, Marvellous & Naturalites in Ites. Notable tracks from the band include Picture On The Wall, Lion Inna Jungle, Rastafari & Love and Understanding. The band had great coverage on the Rockers Road show hosted by Mikey Dread, they appeared twice on John Peels Radio One show in the summer of 1983 and also on channel 4’s The Tube.

The band members went their separate ways at the end of the 80’s but most of the members still continue to perform to this day. Ossie Gad embarked on a successful solo career and has toured around the world. Percy Dread continues to perform and has recently produced an amazing solo album entitled Upside Downside which was co produced by the talented Lenroy Guiste. Lenroy Guiste is set to take the Dub world by storm when his first solo album Roots Rock Dub hits the stores in the summer of 2009.
