“Smoke” is a song by Natalie Imbruglia, released as the fourth and final single from her debut album Left of the Middle. It was released on 11 October 1998, reaching #5 on the UK Singles Chart. However, the song failed to enter the top 40 in Imbruglia’s home nation of Australia, peaking at 42. The video for “Smoke” was directed by Matthew Rolston. The are two versions of the video; one of which contains additional visual effects including Natalie’s face appearing and disappearing within animated smoke.

Heard this song in a record store before I ever heard Torn, and immediately loved it. Loved it so much I actually bought LOTM as an import (it wasn't released in the US at the time). Still love it all these years later.

One of the best songs in the late 90's. Still love it to death and always will.

I've been sat here for 10 minutes trying to think what to write about this and all I can come up with is cliches ("Heartbreaking"). "It's dark in here". Oh, this got followed by "Don't Let it Bring You Down" by Neil Young on my playlist. I was is a really good mood before these two (D'oh!)

When I was in high school I bought this album only cause I thought she was very pretty. I was just getting into music then, and bought many CD's on a whim. Well this is the song I enjoyed the most. It's still a very touching song.

Have you seen her pain? She is really hurting. No Art form is worth this. She is so beautiful, yet so much pain - dont wish more of this from her - wish pain-free songs from her.

I LOVE THIS SONG SO FUCKING MUCH <3 I got the Left Of The Middle album when it first came out when I was a kid and listened to it constantly. One of my favorite albums ever, and this is one of my favorite songs ever. I wish she would go back to doing tunes like this :(
