I went to a music industry conference a little over a year ago and there was a roundtable discussion happening about changes in the music indsutry, specifically the effect of digitalization on the traditional recording industry. At the core of this conversation, I recall someone mentioning record stores, and how the ones that have survived are the ones selling merchandise (posters, t-shirts, stickers, bongs, sex toys, etc.) or computers/appliances (Best Buy/Circuit City), using CDs to lure customers in to buy more expensive shit.
