lol at people thinking Jay-Z is a better rapper or has a better body of music than Nas. Illmatic single-handedly destroys any argument. Nas could have released Nastradamus 10 times and it wouldn't matter. Get this through your heads.
And imo all of y'all are missing the biggest diss in this song. Your talking bout biting Bigs lines, Em killing him, yada yada. But for real the thing that really made me feel Nas one was he basically called him out on his whole style and all his cocaine shit. "In 88 you was getting' chased through your building." Like wasn't Jays whole persona he was some sort of king pin in the crack game. Nas kinda called him out saying he wasn't. But whatever i love both artists, both great.
Ice Cube uses a lot of Biggie's rhymes too, no one says anything. Jay does it more, sure maybe too much, but he's not the only one who does it. A lot of rappers do but they don't just blatantly steal his rhymes, I'm sure when they do it's more out of respect for him and to show his influence more than anything else. Jay and Nas both said some stupid shit on their disses but who cares, both rappers are still good anyway, why hate over a long dead beef.
Funny how Jay-Z talks about Nas albums when I Am... is a better album than The Blueprint. & some of the songs on The Blueprint wouldn't even make it on Nastradamus. (Jigga That Nigga, among others, wack as fuck)
Then stfu. Stillmatic SHITS on The Blueprint. Its in a different league altogether.. Nah not every rapper mistreats women (most don't actually). He also talks about how Jay-Z first hung with Kane then with Irv Gotti then with Biggie (you know who these people are?). How he said he's better than Biggie. How he wanted to be on every Nas album and was a huge Nas fan.
I'm not denying that it's a good song and Nas is a great rapper, it just makes me cringe when he says shit like "Gay-Z" and "Cockafeller" and everbody thinks it's some huge insult. Oh and don't even bother accusing me of some shit like not listening to the lyrics when you've only listened to two Jay-Z albums and immediately dismiss all of his work after RD, at least i am humble enough to say that i can't comment on all of Nas's albums after Illmatic.
"His verbal treatment of woman" - Jesus, he seriously criticised him for something that almost every rapper does. If you're looking for lyrics that aren't sexist, i think you're in the wrong genre. "Eminem greatly outshined Jay-Z" - He did, true, but Jay-z wasn't awful in that song by any stretch and Eminem is a great lyricist so I don't think you can say it's a huge insult. "Biting lyrics from BIG" - Yeah he does do that alot, can't really defend him there Jay-z may not have made anything as classic as Reasonable doubt but he has come out with acclaimed albums such as The Blueprint and American Gangster, I can't really comment on Nas's albums tbh.
because you cannot comprehend lyrics unless someone else explains them to you, "his (verbal) treatment of women, his song Renegade which features Detroit rapper Eminem (it is the general opinion that Eminem greatly outshined Jay-Z on Renegade), and makes claims about Jay-Z biting (stealing) lyrics from the Notorious B.I.G. How he doesn't have any street cred whatsoever.. Etcetera. /// Its below the video if you cared to read or your stupid ass even listened to the song.
I don't get how Jay-z was murdered on this, i'm not a jay-z "fanboy" and i like Nas but he just makes lot of childish, obvious insults such as "Gay-z"or about how he is a 'camel', Am i missing something? I prefer takeover as a whole song.
