the Nano Records story, thus far…

The seeds were firmly planted on the millennium dancefloors of Cape Towns outdoor party scene, when 3 music and party addicted friends inspired by the psychedelic sounds coming from the UK, Europe and elsewhere pooled all their combined energy and resources to create a record label to release the kind of sounds they wanted to hear. As soon as NANO Records was born, parties were thrown and bases immediately established in both South Africa and the UK.

Emerging with a full South African lineup the ties to England were quickly established and soon artists who had been a big part of the inspiration for NANO Records were on-board, and the double pronged attack of slick-as-it-comes psychedelic trance swept into all corners of Trancedom.

The NANO crew were quick to find and build homes for their sounds through self promoted events and festivals, such as the Origin Festival in Cape Town, and being a major instigator for the Glade Festival while looking to create a psychedelic festival in the UK too.

NANO’s influence on the Origin stage at Glade (named in homage to NANO’s South African based festi) is clearly evident, and some of the most legendary sets, as well as numerous awe-inspiring ‘debut’ performances on the Origin stage have come from NANO acts.

NANO acts who have featured/featuring on the Origin stage, past and present are; Tristan, The Commercial Hippies, Headroom, Allaby, AMD, Laughing Buddha, Fearsome Engine, Dickster, Pogo, Avalon, Aphid Moon, Rups, Hydrophonic, Protoculture, Regan and Ans.

And there’s lots more where that came from too !
