Formed in 1999 by guitarist Blake Judd (aka Azentrius), Nachtmystium debuted with their first demo, Holocaust of Eternity, and a split with USBM band Zalnik. Their first full-length, Reign of the Malicious, was released in 2002, and since then, they have released 4 EPs, Nachtmystium (2003), Eulogy IV (2004), Worldfall (2008) and Doomsday Derelicts (2009), and 3 full-length albums, Demise (2004), Instinct: Decay (2006) and Assassins: Black Meddle, Part 1 (2008). A new song entitled “Pitch Black Cadence” has been posted on their Myspace-page.

Azentrius is the owner of Battle Kommand Records. He also is an active member in USBM supergroup Twilight.

Such a hypocrite I can be... people say similar shit about Wolves in the Throne Room and it pisses me off so I should really just shut my hole about things I have no right to make judgments about. After reading some interviews, Blake seems like a guy who embraces the same things I do about music - freedom of expression and the balls to experiment. Plus, he says he makes music for himself, not for anyone else, and I have as much respect for that as I do for anything else. Anyway, I'm done here and I apologize to anyone I pissed off. What can I say, I'm a dick sometimes.

i'm pretty much untrve, but i discovered this band at a stage where i was listening to stuff like xasthur, nyktalgia and all that strange stuff and i must say: their music kicks ass. that's it, i don't care what the fuck the bandmembers look like (and the trver a black metal musician the more ridiculous all the spikes and corpsepaint get, it was cool when it was new but now it's just ripping off) or what money they make, what they think or say or anything. and to be honest, what could be untruer than bitching like "baaaww, this record's low-end is not completely mastered-out and also i heard a lot of people like this", seriously... theres only one fucking reason not to listen to music, and that's if you don't like it.

Just wanted to point out that Blake and I are both a few years younger than you. Obviously, everything else anyone has said is 100% correct, I read it online, so it must be true...

It doesn't bother me, I guess some people may not think it's "kvlt" having that much information available

They probably just like the feeling of being rock stars, that explains all the endorsements and merch. I still enjoy their music and it's a great band to use to get friends to listen to BM-esque music (the audible lyrics and hooks help a lot)

"If they're barely scraping together a living, then they're obviously not doing a very good job" hahaha, you must be living under a rock, yes i'm sure every musician you're listening to is living the dream and not fretting over if they're going to be able to get by, this is how things are now, you're not worthy of fingers, and schizoid, if krumble is anti trve then i never wanna talk to some who supports it, you guys should go rip on behemoth

"i think if some people hear something other than tremelo picking in music they're too troo to like it" Yes, this is precisely why The Byrds are my most played band on here.

Lockhorns Look at everywhere else krumbledkookie has posted, he's the most anti trve and kvlt person on this site and has been helping promote alot of the black metal groups that you probably listen to yourself. While I like some Nachtmystium riffs and guitar solo's, I can only agree that Nachtmystium are the definition of sellout black metal.

Perhaps corporate is the wrong word, but they're clearly trying to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. If they're barely scraping together a living, then they're obviously not doing a very good job. And what does my age (33, younger than the ppl in the band) have to do with anything? Nothing. And speaking of pretentious, look at some of this bands pics. Pretension personified. Blake Judd is/was one of the poster children for black metal pretension. To his credit, he's claimed to have stepped out of the black metal scene... but is still playing off of that vibe and image, trying to make a buck out of it. Look at all the pretty little endorsements on their myspace page. It's a shame, because everything else Sanford Parker has been involved in is gold.

how are a band that are barely scraping together a living corporate? i think if some people hear something other than tremelo picking in music they're too troo to like it, dude you look about 40, its about time you grew out of being a pretentious faggot, if there is such a thing as a boring faggot (there is), you're what one sounds like
