About this album

Naim Amor isn’t a group, he’s a single, multi-talented man who plays nearly a dozen instruments on this exceptional album that fuses bossa nova, surf, folky americana, and even electro-funk elements. All together the album, though instrumental, is fascinating and engages the listener at every turn. Through varying instruments, genres, and feels on every track, you never know what you’re going to hear next, but it’s always good. For example, the only thing that could make the chilled out surf sounds during the first half of “Precious Second” any cooler is the fuzzed out spacey guitars during the second half of the song. Or the loungey, marimba and wordless vocal-driven jazz of “Les Sortilèges” somehow manages to evoke both the “Taxi Driver” soundtrack and The Beach Boys “Pet Sounds”. The next track, “Tucson Nocturne,” is a taste of western swing meets dusty americana guitars duking it out with crazy jazz sax. It’s a great collection of sounds and songs that feels a bit like a world tour you’ll want to take over and over again.
