Biography

Germany (1992 – 2008)

The melodic/symphonic black metal band Mystic Circle from Germany, was founded in 1992 by bassist/singer Beelzebub. After releasing three demos, they launched their debut CD “Morgenröte” in 1997, which was released on Last Episode. Followed by the albums “Drachenblut” (1998) and “Infernal Satanic Verses” (1999). Let’s call this the “German” episode. The international chapter began in 2000 when Mystic Circle signed to Massacre Records and released “The Great Beast”, followed by their stroke of genius “Damien” in 2002 and “Open The Gates Of Hell” in 2003. After the release of their first Best Of album accurately related to “Unholy Chronicles 1992 – 2004” they signed a contract with Dockyard 1, which marked the commencement of a new Mystic Circle area. Now they’re taking a new step with their 7th full length album “The Bloody Path Of God” - citing the old Black Metal roots, but evolving further into the no man’s land between Death and Black. Changing guitars between blast beats and tight riff-picking show a mature band very eager to go beyond the boundaries.

Guitar player Ezpharess comments: “We’re taking one step back to our early black metal roots with “The Bloody Path Of God” We used keyboards again, to provide the haunted atmosphere songs like “Doomsday Prophecy”, “Riders Of The Apocalypse”, “The Forgotten” or “Unholy Terror” deserve. Also singer Beelzebub is screaming again, and doesn’t use the death-metal-alike growls of “Open The Gates Of Hell” anymore.”

Some of the songs on 'The Great Beast' are fantastic. 'Lucifers Angel' and 'Spirits in Black' are classic melodic black metal. Plus the cover of 'One Rode to Asa Bay' is top notch.

Hmm, i like this band only because of it's sound on 'morgenröte' (and some insane melodic riffs on the latter stuff) I wish a more extreme act would use such a sound appropriately in such a grim bass-y, detailedness of ace

Bathory cover is damn great! (but I'm still not interested in any dimmu-burger-like industrial production, IYKWIM.)

Anyone interested in buying the "Damien"-album (digipack-version)? It's a pretty good one, often called majestic, melodic and -as always - fuckin' evil as hell's captain himself!

"Zu Beginn spielte die Band temporeichen symphonischen Black Metal" - zuerst war das ja wohl ganz übler Rumpel-Death Metal, der sich dann über noch übleren symphonic Pagan Metal in noch mieseren Klingklang verwandelte. Eine der beschissensten Bands überhaupt, von vorne bis hinten stimmt hier einfach gar nichts...

I mean. First what I have bought was Infernal Satanic Verses. I grew up on older stuff which is brilliant. Till 2000.

Indeed, it's about what you like. Doesn't matter if you're the only person in the world, or one of millions that enjoys something..as long as you like it.

I don't care if it's "commercial" or not. If they made some money from it, so let it be.. I like it and for those who don't, I pity you.

It's for fans of Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir and Siebenbürgen and Old Mans Child...Untrue but GREAT Commerce music for people with good taste.. I like it coz they mix a lot of styles "BLACK / DEATH / SYMPHONIC / GOTH" .... "The Great Beast" & "Open The Gates Of Hell" & "Damien" are good albums.
