Cameroons-born, Myra Maimoh says that she concentrates on a positive non-threatening Christian message that touches, encourages, inspires, and challenges people of today’s generation especially if they are fighting fear and discouragement. Her powerful R&B songs cover many ‘down-to-earth’ anecdotes all candidly well-told in contemporary pop. Recorded in Germany, Myra excels with her rich, soft-caressing vocals set to contemp-dance tempos. There are no familiar standards among her repertoire, rather the ditties are newly autobiographical. This capable CD from a new singer on parade is engaging, elegant and simple, a pop-style remarkably adorned, worth checking out. In distinctive vocal style, her repertoire-range blends the sentimental to the philosophical. Here’s an enjoyable ten-out–of-ten from a chart contender to cherish. PAUL DAVIS
