‘My West Texas Hell’ consists of one sole member: Ryan Vasquez. Ryan handles all the writing, performing, and producing of My West Texas Hell. He was born in Houston, Texas and currently resides in Lubbock, Texas. He focuses on My West Texas Hell only as a hobby and therefore only has time to work on the project when he is free from other duties. “Don’t Be Sad I Know You Will” is the name of the debut album from ‘My West Texas Hell’ and is due out sometime in late 2010 or early 2011. For now he has recorded a stripped down demo version of the album. This was all recorded in one day with only a guitar at his side. All of the songs were performed live and are at their most basic level. The full release of the album will consist of more instruments and more polish to the sound. The demo simply gives listeners a taste for what’s to come.

The writing for “Don’t Be Sad I Know You Will” took place from the summer of 2005 until the fall of 2009. The album deals with themes of loss, love, maturity, and of course the comfort of the bottle every now and then.

Some of ‘My West Texas Hell’s’ influences include Butch Walker, Roger Clyne, Cory Branan, Lucero, Everclear, and Eve 6 among other artists. The Combination of post-grunge 90’s alternative and southern americana/cow-punk helped Ryan establish his sound for the project. Another artist that Ryan works closely with is ‘Freddy Nugz’ from New York. Even though the two have different influences, their music shares a similar singer/songwriter feel.
