25 Dec 2008, 19:50 by maidenhellThough a sub-genre of metalcore, deathcore is heavily influenced by modern death metal in its speed, heaviness, and approach to chromatic, heavily palm muted riffing and dissonance. Lyrics may not always be in the death metal vein, but traditional growls, and screaming are prevalent, often combined with metalcore vocals. Much of deathcore features breakdowns and melodic riffs.
Though an early hybrid of death metal and crossover thrash was practiced by Michigan's Repulsion, New York death metal veterans Suffocation and Maryland's Dying Fetus were among the first death metal groups to make the breakdown a staple in their music.
Additionally, the straight edge hardcore group Earth Crisis borrowed a great deal from death metal, as did Converge] and Hatebreed. Before the rise of deathcore, bands such as Abscess and Unseen Terror used the term to describe hardcore punk/death metal hybrids. Germany's Blood also released a 1986 demo entitled Deathcore…
11 Jul 2008, 18:59 by logbutI was going to write a blog about how awesome the Boris, Torche, and Clouds, show was last night, but you would all just get jealous. plus I don't know the names of the songs any of the bands played, so it would be boring. I did however notice a lot of stupid things going on at the show, which happen at most shows I go to (which is a lot). The following things are fucking retarded, and if you are guilty of any one of these things, you should stop, because you look retarded, and most people don't like you.
1. The Interpretive Dancer: We've all seen him (or her). The person who is so into the band they are watching, that they lose all control of their body, wildly flailing their limbs to a fro, completely out of time with the music. It doesn't make sense. Maybe it's acceptable at some stupid hippe jam band bullshit show like Phish, or the The String Cheese Incident where everyone is so fucking whacked out of their mind from acid and ecstasy, but not last night. …

24 May 2008, 21:18 by Ale34Okay,
What is deathcore? I don't know!
Basically, I think deathcore is the Death metal people's way of saying modern Death metal. But, sometimes its obvious what is True death metal and what is not True death metal. I mean look at Emmure, that band is obvious not death metal, but than again I do KNOW deathcore is a real genre, which I love to listen to. But, I mean bands like JFAC are death metal and people criticize because they're death metal and they're not like any other death metal band that everyone knows or listens to. Other people say deathcore is a style that modern death metal bands use because they have hardcore influences. Anyway, to make a long story short, Deathcore exists, but some people don't why.
