10 Apr 2010, 21:55 by MaartjossWhere are my top 50 artist from?
Two years ago I asked myself the same.
There were 8 different countries and I just needed more countries because 8 for 50 artists?? Nah that’s not enough.
So I thought today. Mmmm that’s a long time ago, let’s make the same journal again and let me look which countries are gone and which countries did make my top 50 list.
Here is my list.
Still there can be some artists under the wrong country. (shit happens)
United Kingdom (23):
Scouting for Girls
Simon & Garfunkel
United States (21):
Kings of Leon
Five for Fighting

First I want to thank Mara234 for sharing this track with me. Museum is a German indie rock band that has two EPs currently out and is from the Hamburg area.
The intro to the song definitely got me interested with a strange medley of metallic noises which juxtaposed nicely with striking guitar riffs. The vocals are hauntingly fun and move along with the song in a roller coaster like fashion. You never really know what the guitars and singer Tobias Hermes are going to do next on the song, which is what it so enjoyable. Whereas most music today seems to follow a familiar pattern, Museum opts for surprise in terms of musical structure which makes the song all the more enjoyable. One of my few complaints is that often the guitars, bass and other instruments overpower Tobias's voice which definitely could have been given a little more room to be heard.
Be sure to check them out and please continue sending me songs to look into!

9 Dec 2009, 22:17 by crouchingotterOnce upon a time some Spam Artist decided to go around a bunch of people's Last.fm profiles and say something along the lines of "Hey! Check out Museum cos they're a proper good unsigned band!"
For some reason unknown to me I actually clicked on the link to Museum's page and I listened to Flowers And Dust, For The Very First Time, To Have Or To Be, Uncorrupted, Eden and The Law.
I immediately liked what I heard and was disappointed to learn that dispite having several thousand listeners that they were still unsigned.
Turns out though that these guys.... are from Germany.
Now, it might be because I'm British and my only exposure to German "RAWK!!!" music has been Rammstein, but I didn't have a clue that there were some German bands out there putting out excellent alternative/indie rock.
Thanks to Museum, I found Slut. Slut have strangely never been to the UK. Perhaps their name has something to do with it but having done some research it seems that "Slut"…
