Showbiz is the debut album by English alternative rock band Muse, released on 4 October 1999 in the United Kingdom. Origin of Symmetry is by far their strongest release. And the Radiohead comparisons were destroyed by Radiohead's release of Kid A. Not only that, Matt has expressed that he doesn't hear the comparison and only likes a few Radiohead songs. It's NOT the peoples' fault for Muse's change in sound - it's Muse's. And considering the Exogenesis pieces and United States of Eurasia, I think their change is pretty great. (guitar effects, strong basslines, keyboards/piano are still there. listen for them)

Showbiz was released in 1999, not 2006.

This was released back when Muse was full of good ideas, and they could be themselves, without having to worry about fame or fortune. This was when they were truly Muse and not sold out to some teeny bop book. The guitar effects, strong basslines, keyboards, pianos...starting with Absolution all those got less cool. Paul Reeve's mixing of this album is a big reason I love it so much. Debut albums are almost always a band's best because the band puts so much heart into it, it shows the most about them, and that is what really matter. Also, it doesn't matter whether you're 19 or 91, if you like The Resistance, you're listening to teenage girl music. And anyone who thinks this album is a Radiohead rip off, the constant Radiohead comparisons are a big reason Muse knowingly sold out after the OOS/Hullabuloo era, so congratulations, you ruined this band.

Hehe when you correct it is fine. With the age thing, I meant for me personally it was such an unique album for that time, and it's the album that made me and I think alot of people Muse-fans. Anyways yeah wasn't really a mature reply of me either, but you started it! (awesome mature argument haha)

And to finish, my comment has the only meaning of making an affront to people who come here saying "I hate this album." or "A horrible debut, thank God Origin Of Symmetry came after". Not that I really mean it. Who am I to say if someone is or not a Muse fan? Well, but that doens't really matter, cause I'm just an 19 years old idiot fan, isn't it?

And what a mature reply you gave, 25 year old man: first you call me idiot, without even knowing, then you use age as argument "who was 7 years old when this album got released", yeah, I was, and so what? My parents were 2 years old when "The Velvet Underground & Nico" was released, so it means I can't like it? Well, I don't think so. And to finish my argument about your enormous maturity, you finish your comment with "Most stupid post ever" as if you ever read all the comments in Last.fm. Not to mention that you don't even saw that "Showbiz" is my top Muse album. Really, your maturity amaze me.

I don't need no 19 year old idiot fan (who was 7 years old when this album got released) to tell me I can't call myself a muse fan. Most stupid post ever.

@XJ220RACER Original? If there's one Muse album that isn't original, it's this one. This is the reason for all of the Radiohead jokes that still persist today. Decent album though.
