“Nothing to Gein” (an obvious play on words) is essentially the real-life story of Edward Gein (1906 - 1984), one of the United States’ most notorious serial killers. He is often credited for the inspiration of characters in popular horror movies such as “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “Silence of the Lambs”, and “Psycho”. The song makes obvious references to a dysfunctional son-mother relationship as well as practices involving the removal of flesh, paralleling the story of Ed Gein whose victims were mostly older women which he often gutted, dismembered, or skinned to create clothing, furniture, and decorations.

This song is disturbing in terms of the subject matter and lyrics but something about it is beautiful. The idea of a disturbed child whose mother was sick and told him that all women were swine and that he needed to stay close to her. Maybe I'm messed up in the head but I find it to be a fascinating and beautifully innocent but horrible concept.
