About this album

Mudvayne is the fifth studio album by alternative metal band Mudvayne. It incorporates the sounds from all their past albums, but at the same time sounding pretty different from every one of them. This is probably the most ‘math’ album they ever did. The album is full of tempo/time signature changes, complex basslines and drumming, screaming vocals and a dominating guitar work. The album art also deserves lots of praises, it is the first album whose entire art is printed in blacklight.

On listening quite a bit, they are as strong as is the tracks that are obvious pandering to radio airplay that rightfully got criticism (Scream With Me, I Can't Wait etc.) that are definite weak spots on the album. The basslines still kick ass because Ryan is involved, but everywhere else they are weaker.

The guitarwork has definitely progressed a lot...I can tell because it overpowers this album. Hopefully it sounds better mixed when I start running my EQ through it with a subwoofer.

This album and The New Game aren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be.

Shades of The End Of All Things To Come here, not too much LD50 though. But definitely their best sounding stuff in a long long time.

Got an average of 60 plays per song on this album, definitely their best since LD 50, or possible the best they have ever done!

The guitar tone reminds me a lot of Strapping Young Lad.
