Biography

Mr. Sister refers to two different artists:
1) A Boston-based folk rock musician and singer.
2) A West Australian pop duo.

Boston-based Mr. Sister is fronted by Amelia Emmet, whose sound has been described as “dark yet infectious pop songs with a lush assortment of instruments” (http://www.grindingtapes.org/artists/mr_sister/). Among these instruments are the folk sounds of accordion, banjo, trombone, and acoustic guitar, as well as Emmet’s unique voice. Often accompanying Emmet are Mike Fiore (Faces On Film), as well as Elio DeLuca and Brian Rutledge (Hallelujah The Hills).

Mr. Sister has gained a strong reputation in Boston, playing at coffee houses and local venues and finding critical acclaim and support. In 2010, Mr. Sister released a first album, titled “O, Sinister Force,” with the Grinding Tapes record label. More information may be found at the artist’s Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/mrsisterboston.

The Australian duo is the meeting place of two like-minded musicians. One half of the West Australian duo is singer/songwriter/cellist Mel Robinson, whose music has been described by the West Australian as “fresh and engaging, down-to-earth and bubbling with creative brilliance”. The other half is percussionist-extraordinare Steve Richter, whom the West Australian describes as ” a young virtuoso” with an ability to “tap, seemingly intuitively, into a limitless reservoir of expressiveness.”

Combining Mels distinct musical style with Steves effortless and seductive groove, together these two captivating musicians create a melting pot of beautiful melodies, haunting lyrics and earthy percussion.
