Biography

Mpath is a collaboration between London producer / musician Martyn Phillips, New Zealand singer-songwriter Mathew James White & German virtuoso drummer Philipp Renz. Influences include Calexico The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Elvis Costello and Neil Finn.

Martyn made his name producing several major hit records, including London Beat’s ‘Thinking About You’, which got to number 1 in 24 countries, (including the USA), Jesus Jones’ “Right Here , Right Now” (USA number 1), “Chorus”, a UK number one album for Erasure and hit albums for Roachford and The Beloved. His productions have sold over four million copies worldwide.

Mathew, on the other hand, claims to have set the record for playing in more toilets (particularly in Australia) than any other singer- songwriter!

The band’s birth dates back to when Martyn & Mathew met 7 to 8 years ago. It was during that time that they penned their first song ‘Fly Like A Bird’, which appeared on Mathew’s first solo CD, ‘That’s Just Me’. They have continued to write & record ever since, releasing a concert only available 6 track EP in August 2007,titled’Semi-Naked’, a single (Who Will Get The) Marvin Gaye in April 2008 (which received a few spins on various stations around Germany, including Frankfurt’s you-fm) & their first album ‘Gravity’ in November 2008.
