I actually prefer this to "Meat is Murder," maybe the self-titled Smiths album as well.

I like this album. Don't know if this is my favorite mozz album, it's either this one or Vauxhall And I. [2]

Ah, the record that marks the advent of the more masculine Moz. The whole musical assault, from guitars to lyrics, is the most muscular thing on offer in the Moz catalog. It can also be interpreted as Morrissey's obituary for the UK... "London is dead" indeed. Lots of cynicism in this one. He shortly moved to LA after putting this one out (which is an odd choice, but it shows he believes what he's writing). Probably the best album in his catalog.

The best solo Morrissey album. Boz , Alan , Gaz at the top of their games.

@ FootToFace: no offense taken. I still think The Queen Is Dead is best, but this album is #2 for me (from Moz/Smiths) overall. The fact that the former contains (by far) my favorite Morrissey penned tracks (i.e. Bigmouth... and There Is A Light...) is what will never knock it out of the #1 spot.
