Anyone who likes the guitar work and production style on this should check out The Durutti Column, especially their album Vini Reilly (recently reissued), produced by Stephen Street at around the same time as the Viva Hate album.

Xavery: "13-20 are present on the so-called "1997 EMI Centenary Edition". it features a different cover of the album itself, as well as the obvious B-sides and some live recordings" No, you're wrong, these are not the obvious b-sides. Actually, most of them aren't b-sides to Viva Hate. Only Disappointed was a Viva Hate b-side, and this isn't even that b-side, but a live version. I'd love to is a b-side to Vauxall and I. Six years later! I love the additional tracks, but they don't fit here at all. Viva Hate had some great B-sides (Oh well, I'll never learn, i know very well how I got my name, sister I'm a poet and will never marry are all beautiful) that should have appeared instead. Perhaps they will appear on the rumored viva hate Re-isssue.

It didn't. Though the cover is from the 1988, original release.

Well done for using Wikipedia. Did the 1988 release have this exact same tracklist? No.

I take back my old comment below. One of my favorites. Give it up for Vini Reilly.

I remember the day, I bought the record so vividly. I didn't have a record-player at this time for some reason. So I had to go and ask my brother (11 years older than me) to play the record on his stereo and he reluctantly agreed. Then he went like "WTF is going on?" when the record started the way it started..... :)))) It's one of my favorite records ever!

'Late Night Maudlin Street' is still very touching to listen to. A brilliant album.

13-20 are present on the so-called "1997 EMI Centenary Edition". it features a different cover of the album itself, as well as the obvious B-sides and some live recordings. "Disappointed", for instance, was recorded live, but I have no idea when or where. these bonus tracks are so-so to be honest, though.
