The vocals aren't very powerful, but not considerably inferior to the strained growling/shouting on BatS. The production suits the album perfectly and there's nothing particularly wrong with it.

I didn't mean that I was listening to BaTS back in 1991, cause off course I wasn't, I was two years old. x). What I meant, was that it was praised back in 1991, and it deserves the same praising today. It hasn't aged at all. The songwriting is great and varied, vocals are much improved over Altars, drums sound great, guitar tone is lower, more powerful, it's great not only cause it was way ahead of it's time, but also because is a piece of excellent heavy music. Altars on the other hand, were praised then, cause they were something new and original. It's flaws (horrible growling, weak production, dry and weak guitar tone, weird sounding drums, monotonous song-writing) weren't as obvious as they are now, people were more focused on seeing (or rather hearing) how you can shake up the simple death metal formula. At least that's what I think, heard and read in the reviews, as I've mentioned, I was just being born when this album got released :P.

You shouldn't be surprised that your taste is judged because of that nickname. It should be quite obvious, actually. If you're 23, what could you have understood of Morbid Angel in 1991, though? Seems a little iffy. To me BatS was way cooler in 2004 when I first heard it that it is now, if that means anything.

Sarguer, yes, I used to listen to KoRn back in my teenage years, then I created this nickname, and I use it till this day because I've become attached to it, so why the fuck are you judging my musical taste by my stupd nickname is beyond me. Check out my profile and you'll see that I listen to a lot of death metal bands (Cannibal Corpse, Death, Hypocrisy, Vader, Behemoth, Suffocation, etc.), so it's not like I can't understand the greatness of Altars, 'cause I listen to some shitty nu-metal. But seriously, I'm sure this album was great and very influeancial back in 1989, but today it just doesn't sound as good anymore. Blessed Are The Sick on the other hand is still as brutal and interesting to listen to, as it was in 1991. So yes, their next albums (BATS in particular, but Covenant and Domination are also great) are much better in my opinion.

As expected of someone with KoRn in their name. Next three, eh? You prefer Abominations to Altars because Altars hasn't aged well? That's ridiculous. Even if Altars isn't as shocking, sickining and brutal as it may have been in 89, it's an awesome album with great riffs, atmosphere and attitude.
