Biography

Moran is a rock band from Tokyo, Japan that was founded in December 2007 and started activities in March 2008.

The band’s current lineup consists of Hitomi (aka Sanaka/Kanoma, ex-Fatima) on vocals, SIZNA (ex-Ｓｕｇａｒ) on guitar, vivi (ex-DragonWAPPPPPPER) on guitar, Ivy (aka Tomoa, ex-レミング, Dio - Distraught Overlord) on bass, and Soan (aka Towa, ex-Fatima) on drums. Originally the band had Zill on bass (aka Saburo, ex-Kurt) and Velo (aka Takumi) on guitar.

On November 2009, guitarist, Velo, officially decided to leave after Moran’s last oneman tour before their hiatus, 「Freeze」. In 2010, with the 3 remaining members, Moran played a few shows as a session band under the name Freeze. In the middle of the year, they had planned to make a comeback from their hiatus with a new guitarist, SIZNA, and started writing new material. However, bassist Zill suddenly passed away on July 23. On August 20, SIZNA’s birthday, Moran officially announced that SIZNA has joined as a new permanent member. Moran officially “unfreezes” from their hiatus on December 24, 2010, marked with their oneman live, titled,「Awake」. On March 23, 2011, the band will release a mini-album of new and previously unreleased songs composed by Zill, titled, 「Apples」. On June 9, 2012, Moran announced new official members, vivi (guitar) and Ivy (bass).

    My reactions to jen:ga so far: ["Bulbs" plays] I think this is the end of the road for me as a Moran fan.... ["メランコリア" and "Wing or Tail" play] THAT SOUNDED SO F***ING COOL! wtf Soan, why are you doing this to me? (Btw contrary to doubts, vivi wrote "ReCover" and it wasn't bad/annoying, even if it sounds like typical VK)

    The new album jen:ga is going to be in two versions. The special edition has 11 tracks, a PV and a photo booklet, the regular version is 13 tracks with no extras. Now I have to figure out which one to get. Those two extra tracks might be the best ones, or not. When they announced the "Tower of Jenga" tour I cracked up so hard, then the album info came up and it made sense :P Jenga. Ha.

    This "new" Moran is a pleasant surprise. I don't really care about their older stuff (it's not for my taste) but this new stuff is great. The new singles remind me of late ゾロ (i.e. KIGA album) a bit.

    I think Vegaの花 is the most interesting track among all 4 of the new songs. I typically don't get too crazy for songs Soan write, but this time I got into it right away. Maybe I've just grown to like his style :D yay!
